ABOUT US

My title
The Dual Language Training Institute (DLTI) is a consulting firm of Master and PhD professionals (education professors) dedicated to providing professional development services and technical support to schools and districts interested in educating all of their students through either a One-Way or Two-Way Dual Language Education using the Gómez and Gómez Elementary or Secondary DLE Models, thereby providing greater educational equity and biliteracy opportunities to the students they serve.

DLTI is committed to the belief, as evidenced through extensive research, that successful Dual Language Learner's (DLLs) (inappropriately referred to as ELLs or LEP) achievement is largely based on the extent and quality of native language instruction (L1). Increasingly, One-Way Dual Language Programs now serve as THE bilingual program successfully serving ALL DLLs.

First implemented in 1996, the Gómez and Gómez DLE Models have expanded to nearly 700 elementary and secondary schools in 136 school districts across 11 states. The Gómez and Gómez DLE Models are the most widely implemented dual language programs in the country!

DLTI offers initial and follow-up trainings on the development and implementation of the Gómez & Gómez Elementary and Secondary DLE Models.

Initial trainings are designed for new schools/districts interested in implementing these DLE models and for teachers new to the program.

Follow-up trainings support stronger program fidelity and require that participants have first attended the 3-Day "Initial" Training on the Gómez & Gómez Elementary or Secondary DLE Model.

DLTI trainings are offered annually either on-site per local district request OR through "hosted" trainings open to all districts using the Gómez & Gómez DLE Models.

Collaboration over the past 10 years with the DLTI team has been an integral component in the development of a high quality dual language program in our district."
- Tina Dozier, ELL/Dual Language Director, Leander ISD
"The Gómez & Gómez Dual Language Program is the only enrichment program that closes the achievement gap of our English Language Learners. The dual language approach to biliteracy allows students to have a cognitive advantage."
