2-Day "Initial" On-site and Online Training on the
Development and Implementation of the Gómez & Gómez Elementary DLE Program

Description: The following two-day On-site and Online Trainings are for new schools starting implementation and/or new teachers or administrators that have not received this initial training. Two-day On-site and Online Trainings is the minimal training required to begin implementation of the Gómez & Gómez Elementary DLE Program. It is offered to ALL districts in support of consistent implementation of this model. Although teachers and principals can attend this training anytime, it’s strongly recommended they attend the semester prior to actual implementation (DLE program should begin at PK-1st grade and roll up one grade level each year). NOTE: All trainings are Central Standard Time (CST).

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1: Understanding Dual Language Education (purpose, research, philosophy), Principles of a Dual Language Education, Instructional Model (components), Language of the Day, Elements of Gómez & Gómez Dual Language Classroom (environment and instruction), Bilingual Pairs (balanced classrooms), The Dual Language Classroom Schedule (PK-5th), DLE Program Benchmarks.

Day 2: Challenging, Interactive and Authentic (CIA) Dual Language Classroom using 7-Step CIA Lesson Cycle, Conceptual Refinement (supporting L2 content learners...PK-2 & academic rigor), Specialized Vocabulary Enrichment Activities (facilitating biliteracy in all learners...3-5), Bilingual Learning Centers and Bilingual Research Centers, Fundamental Tenets of Dual Language Program, Dual Language Grading Policy, Student/Program Assessment (report cards, testing)
